The Art at the Center of Tokyo Pride
As part of Tokyo Pride 2025, the Queer Art Exhibition brings together 30 LGBTQ+ and ally artists to explore identity, memory, resistance, and inclusion through 36 original works. Hosted on the 3rd floor of Tokyu Plaza Harajuku “Hara-Kado,” the exhibition is free and open to all.
Spanning painting, illustration, photography, and mixed media, the works reflect diverse queer perspectives from Japan and abroad. Highlights include Even If The World Falls Apart by Kanami Mitarashi, a powerful response to the history of exclusion and survival; Ordinary by moriuo, a poignant depiction of generational change in LGBTQ+ visibility; and 玫瑰少年 (Rose Boy) by Kazutaka Nagashima, a woodblock print honoring a landmark LGBTQ+ rights case in Taiwan.
A special feature of the event is a donation-based support system, where visitors can purchase artworks or leave tips to support the artists directly. An audience-choice award will also be presented based on votes cast during the exhibition.
