The Viral Stealing Game is Back

The creative team behind the massively-popular “TOH” stealth events will host their fourth project: Gigamart.

Originally conceived by TBS Radio show “脳盗” (Brain Theft) hosted by rapper TaiTan and Shuuhei Tamaki of Mono No Aware, the first TOH immersive game event became a viral sensation. Approximately 1,000 participants lined up for up to four hours for the chance to experience this unusual concept.

Now TOH is back for a new experience at Azabudai Hills Gallery.

The Gigamart Exhibition is an interactive attraction that is part art gallery and part game. The setting for this exhibition is a fictional convenience store called “Gigamart,” which features “gigafied” products like giant potato chips. The area invites guests into a surreal environment to freely explore. The exhibit will include collaborations with a variety of artists, such as Naka Renya, Shohei Ochiai, Bokunou and Ajotto.

Then, going into the “theft area,” visitors can participate in TOH’s highly engaging game where you must “steal” items within a 60-second time limit without being detected by special surveillance cameras. The exhibition will have three arenas to choose from: the “Loading Dock,” the “Employee Break Room,” or the “Product Warehouse.” Steal-able products include beverages, snacks, used books and more.

The exhibition explores the everyday act of “shopping,” in a new creative manner — deconstructing the relationship between “consumption, goods, and advertising.”

There are different types of tickets available for the Gigamart Exhibition. The premium ticket (¥7000) includes admission to the exhibit and access to all three “stealing” experiences. The regular ticket (¥3200 on weekdays) is limited to just one game arena. Additional “revenge tickets” (¥2200) will also be available inside the gallery for those who have already entered the exhibition and decide to experience extra game arenas on the day of their visit.

Official Gigamart merchandise will be sold exclusively at the exhibit.
