The Ultimate Ramen Showdown

The Great Tsukemen Expo is gathering some of the top ramen restaurants to compete for the title of best ramen and a grand prize of 5 million yen.

Ramen shops, local Chinese restaurants, diners and izakayas — all establishments that have been in business for less than 15 years — will compete in the ultimate showdown. Following web-based preliminary fan votes, the top 64 shops will gather at Okubo Park. Eight shops will rotate across eight waves during the event, and visitors can vote for their favorites to crown the next ramen champion.

Some senior restaurants that have over 15 years of experience will also be participating as “legendary shops.”

Ramen that is about half the size of a regular bowl will be available for ¥800, so guests can try and compare the ramen that each shop has put its own special touch into and find their favorite bowl. Voting will take place during the first three days of each championship round. Please check the event website for the full schedule and all competing ramen shops.
