Tokyo Skytree Transforms Into A Festive Christmas Tree

Celebrate the holiday season at Tokyo Skytree Town’s “Dream Christmas” celebration.

Running from November 5 to December 25, this year’s theme is inspired by “Wishing Upon a Star.” The entire town will be draped in approximately 400,000 dazzling, star-like gold lights starting daily from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. A centerpiece 8-meter-tall “Wish Upon A Star” tree will be set up at the Sky Arena. Guests can also experience the “Starry Dome,” an interactive ornament tree where you can write your wishes on ornaments and mail them.

Inside Tokyo Skytree, Floor 340 and Floor 350 observation decks will feature photo spots wrapped in holiday ribbons and stars. The Skytree Round Theater, a panoramic screen located 350 meters above ground, will be showing a special Christmas-themed video that tells a two-part short story. Admission into Tokyo Skytree is required to access the observation deck.

At the photo service on the 350th floor of the Tokyo Skytree observation deck, for a limited time during the Christmas season, you can take a photo that combines the spectacular view from the observation deck with an image of Santa Claus riding his sleigh across the night sky.

As a special attraction for the holiday season, Tokyo Skytree will have a Christmas-themed lighting display. Three different lighting patterns will switch approximately every 15 minutes during the event period from 5:30 p.m. t0 10:00 p.m. Lighting times may vary depending of the date.

The lighting patterns are designed to resemble a Christmas tree filled with colorful ornaments, a tree adorned with red and gold ribbons, and Santa Claus with his signature suit.
