Celebrate Female Manga Artists and LaLa’s 50th Anniversary
“LaLa,” the monthly Japanese magazine specializing in shojo manga, will celebrate its milestone 50th anniversary with a special art exhibition featuring genga or original artwork.
LaLa’s series have long captivated their audience with romantic stories, compelling heroines and beautiful artwork. The “Enchanting Creations: LaLa 50th Anniversary Original Artwork Exhibition” will feature 75 renowned LaLa artists, who together have created over 100 globally-beloved manga. Featured artists include Bisco Hatori (Ouran High School Host Club), Matsuri Hino (Vampire Knight), Hiro Fujiwara (Maid Sama!), Sorata Akiduki (Snow White with the Red Hair), Yuki Midorikawa (Natsume’s Book of Friends) and more. Visitors will receive an exhibition-exclusive illustration card featuring different artists’ work.
- Mondays: Minako Narita and Sorata Akiduki
- Tuesdays: Natsumi Itsuki and Bisco Hatori
- Wednesdays: Reiko Shimizu and Yuki Midorikawa
- Thursdays: Masami Tsuda and Matsuri Hino
- Fridays: Kyoko Hikawa and Hiro Fujiwara
- Saturdays and Sundays: all 5 card designs will be available and distributed randomly

Manga artist Bisco Hatori will attend a special autograph signing event on July 23. The event will be ¥5800 (also includes exhibition admission and catalog), and will only be open to select visitors selected through a lottery.
The exhibit will run from July 17 to August 3 in Tokyo’s Shinjuku Takashimaya department store, and then travel to Osaka’s Namba Parks Museum from September 5 to September 27.
