Wear Kimono at Japan’s Oldest Amusement Park
Asakusa Hanayashiki, Japan’s oldest amusement park that has been operating since 1853, will be offering free admission for all guests who come wearing kimono on select days.
The park’s surrounding Asakusa area is already a popular location for both domestic and international visitors to stroll through town in traditional garments. In an effort to further extend the charms of Asakusa, Hanayashiki will offer kimono-clad guests free admission from September 2 to October 31, along with a coupon for 50% off their next visit. Admission to the park is free, but rides have separate individual fees. Guests can take advantage of the promotion to participate in unique experiences like riding a roller coaster in kimono.
During weekdays across the event period, two rides — the carousel and the swan ride — will be temporarily shut down for 10 minutes to allow kimono-wearing guests the opportunity to take photos inside the attractions. The two rides have an especially retro style that match well with elegant kimono. The photo sessions will be held twice a day
- Carousel: ① 1:40-1:50 p.m. ② 2:40-2:50 p.m.
- Swan: ① 1:50-2:00 p.m. ② 2:50-3:00 p.m.
