Experience fruit harvesting and pastry making in Kyushu’s renowned fruit capital
This autumn, the Fairfield by Marriott Michi-no-Eki Project invites travelers to celebrate the seasonal harvest in Ukiha City through a hands-on fruit harvesting and pastry-making experience. Framed by the Minou Mountain Range and the Chikugo River, this fertile corner of Fukuoka is famous across Japan for its vibrant orchards.
Guided by local growers at Nakashima Farm — a historic orchard marked by its classic thatched roof — participants will pick crisp, sweet Taishu persimmons at their peak while learning about local agricultural traditions. The journey then continues to Kawasemi Danish, a local shop led by owner Mayu Hisatsugu, who also serves as the host of the regional podcast Serendipity of Travel. Guests will assemble custom fruit pastries using their freshly harvested persimmons alongside seasonal toppings, followed by a relaxed tea session with local community members.
It’s an invitation to slow down, connect with regional creators and savor the authentic flavors of autumn in the Japanese countryside.
