This exhibition presents European artworks from the Tamashin Collection alongside an exploration of how Japanese artists, including several from the Tama region, depicted the inspiration they drew from foreign countries.
The exhibit also introduces a collection of sketches and postcards by Western-style painter Saburo Kurata, who traveled the world drawing as he went and worked to advance art education in Japan. A viewing worksheet and other exhibit-related programs suited to a summer holiday research project are also available.
