Explore Marine Life Up Close in Wakayama
As part of the Fairfield by Marriott Michi-no-Eki Project, guests staying at Fairfield by Marriott Wakayama Kumano Kodo Susami are invited to a special behind-the-scenes tour at the Susami Town Shrimp and Crab Aquarium.
This exclusive program offers families a rare opportunity to go beyond the tanks and into areas usually closed to the public. Participants will learn about the daily care of crustaceans, meet rarely seen marine creatures and even feed sea turtles. Interactive touch pools let children get hands-on with fascinating species such as the Japanese spider crab and the ancient horseshoe crab.
The aquarium is located within Michi-no-Eki Susami in a repurposed junior high school gymnasium, making it a local curiosity in itself. After the tour, guests can unwind in the hotel’s ocean-facing hot spring, “Nozomi no Yu,” on the B1 floor of the hotel.
