The World of Kakegurui Comes to Life
Psychological gambling thriller Kakegurui will be adapted into a live stage play at Shinagawa’s Theater H.
Kakegurui, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Toru Naomura, is a manga that follows the students of Hyakkaou Private Academy— a prestigious school with a student hierarchy developed through gambling. It has been adapted into an anime, a live-action drama, two live-action films, and now it enters the world of “2.5 dimensional” stage shows.
This new stage production will bring the series’ intense psychological battles to a live audience, incorporating original music and choreography. The show will be directed by Daisuke Nishida with music by Shunsuke Wada. The lead role of the compulsive gambler Yumeko Jabami, will be played by Moeko Kanisawa from the idol group Me (stylized as ≠ME), in her first solo lead stage role. The cast also includes Seiichiro Nagata as Ryota Suzui and Moeka Koizumi as Mary Saotome.
Following four select performances, a photo session with all the cast members will be held during curtain call. Audiences will only be able to take photos during this special time from September 9 to September 12 at the 18:00 performances.
