A Tea House in the Clouds

Tokyo Skytree will host its first-ever Tokyo Matcha Time event, where visitors can enjoy matcha tea at the observation deck.

The event will be a collaboration with Gion Tsujiri, a long-established tea shop from Gion, Kyoto. The collaboration will feature exclusive cafe menu items and special photo spots inspired by Japanese tea culture. Skytree Cafe will feature Uji matcha from Gion Tsujiri, serving treats and drinks including wasanbon matcha lattes, matcha gin sodas, mochi sundaes and matcha affogatos. During the event period, a special ticket will be available which includes admission to the observation deck and a voucher for a cafe drink or sweet.

Decorations and photo spots will be set up throughout the venue with the aroma of freshly brewed tea.

Guests are also invited to attend a private tea ceremony at the top of Tokyo Skytree. The workshop (¥6500) will be taught by tea master Masahiko Sawai, and participants will learn tea ceremony etiquette and how to prepare matcha in a meditative experience of Japanese traditional culture. The tea ceremony will take place at the Tokyo Skytree Observation Deck on May 9 and on June 13 from 7:45 to 8:45. Guests are instructed to gather at the Solamachi Plaza on the 1st floor of Tokyo Skytree Town by 7:30. Participants are welcome to stay and enjoy the deck after the ceremony. To reserve this experience, please visit the ticketing website.

Tokyo Skytree’s mascot, Sorakara-chan, will be welcoming visitors in a brand-new costume inspired by refreshing green tea. Guests can meet Sorakara-chan in her green dress from April 23 to July 6.

Tokyo Skytree itself will also decorated to match the season with new green lighting inspired by matcha. The green lights will be on display from April to July. Please check the website for a full light-up schedule.
