May the 4th Be With You
The Yokohama Minatomirai waterfront area will host a special event to celebrate Star Wars Day and the upcoming release of the new movie The Mandalorian and Grogu.
May 4th is popularly recognized as “Star Wars Day” because of its similarity to “may the force be with you.” This will be the third annual Star Wars event held in the Minatomirai area, which will house several special pop-ups to celebrate the saga.
The Landmark Plaza shopping mall will have several events throughout the venue. Sakata Seed Garden Square, located on the first floor, will display holographic images of the Star Wars galaxy, including famous scenes and popular characters. The 3rd floor Wind Lighthouse will have photo spots featuring Din Djarin and Grogu. The Mark Is Minatomirai mall will also have special activities. The first floor Grand Galleria will have a giant Grogu statue, coloring pages, a stamp activity, a Lego workshop, a papercraft workshop and a May the 4th Time Challenge. Both venues will have pop-up shops with limited-edition collaboration items.
The Lawson United Cinemas Style-S Minatomirai movie theater will be screening all 11 Star Wars films from April 24 to May 7. Fans can experience watching the movies on the big screen and relive the entire Skywalker storyline. Tickets will go on sale two days before each screening date. Please check the theater’s website for details.
The outside Grand Mall Park will welcome officially licensed Lucasfilm costume groups. Guests can come greet and take photos with their favorite characters from May 3 to May 5. Held exclusively on May 4, the park will host local bands who will play music from the Star Wars saga.
