Celebrate Kawaii Culture
Mori Arts Center Gallery will hold a special anniversary exhibition, “Sanrio Exhibition: The Beginning of Kawaii Final Ver.”

The exhibition has been touring throughout 19 cities nationwide to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Sanrio brand, attracting over 850,000 visitors. It has now arrived for its final stop in Tokyo. The exhibit will feature the largest display of merchandise in Sanrio exhibition history, with approximately 1,500 items. The gallery will also highlight over 200 characters from Sanrio’s roster, from popular classics to more obscure designs.
This exhibit traces Sanrio’s history of over 60 years, and explores how “kawaii” culture has grown worldwide as a whole. The gallery is divided into various themed sections that cover this history and the development process of the Sanrio brand. In addition, a special corner will highlight the annual “Sanrio Character Awards” where fans vote for their favorite Sanrio characters. The walls of this section has over 100 quiz questions about various Sanrio characters.
The Mori Arts Center Gallery is located on the 52nd floor of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower. Visitors can stop by The Sun & The Moon Cafe, also on the 52nd floor, for a fun limited-time menu inspired by Sanrio.
The exhibit will be open from 10:00 to 18:00 from Sunday to Friday, and 10:00 to 20:00 on Saturdays and public holidays. The museum will close at 18:00 on May 6.
