Experience Wakayama’s Umeshu

The Fairfield by Marriott Michi-No-Eki Project aims to open the doors to the cultural and historical gems of Japan’s sprawling countryside. With 29 accommodation-focused hotels across the country, the Michi-No-Eki Project advocates for travelers to explore the local charms surrounding each hotel, whether through nearby attractions, culinary experiences, neighboring nature— and now through special events and collaborations.

For a limited time, Fairfield by Marriott Wakayama Kumano Kodo Susami is collaborating with Nakano BC sake brewery for a free guest-exclusive tasting event on June 14. Guests can sample specialty plum wine, sake and craft gin. As Wakayama Prefecture is Japan’s top producer of plums, the region is home to renowned umeshu breweries, and Nakano BC Co uses only the highest quality Nanko-ume plum variety for their plum wine.

The hotel is offering another special opportunity for guests as well: the chance to participate in a plum wine marinating experience using Nanko-ume plums. This extra experience requires an advanced booking and an additional fee of ¥2,200 per person.

This experience is limited to the first 16 participants, with the first session happening from 16:00 to 17:00 and the second session from 17:30 to 18:30.

To book the plum wine marinating experience, please contact the hotel by phone. Payment will be made upon check-in.
