Enjoy Original Cocktails From a Selection of Iconic Rémy Cointreau Spirits
On June 20 and 21, The Oak Door Bar and Maduro are welcoming two revolutionary cocktail creators from Penang’s Backdoor Bodega, which was named one of Asia’s 50 Best Bars in 2022 and 2024. On a whirlwind visit to Grand Hyatt Tokyo, Backdoor Bodega’s bartenders will be preparing original cocktails created from a selection of iconic Rémy Cointreau spirits, including Rémy Martin cognac and The Botanist’s Islay dry gin.
Opened in November 2016, Backdoor Bodega is a popular speakeasy bar in George Town, Penang, Malaysia, featuring highly acclaimed cocktails that use locally-sourced ingredients. The two bartenders appearing in Tokyo are Thanesh Kumar Sivakumar, the 2023 global champion of the Jameson Black Barrel Bartender Competition, and Yung Shen Koh, an honoree of Asia’s Most Influential 2022 list by Tatler for his contributions to the Penang cocktail industry. They will prepare three exclusive cocktails.
