Living Life with Licca-chan
Lumine NEWoMan Shinjuku will hold a collaborative exhibition with the popular social media artist known as “Licca-chan’s real life” (@licca_real on Instagram and YouTube). The online series showcases Licca-chan’s imperfect, uncurated everyday life instead of how she’s typically seen as an idealized posed doll.
Since the doll’s release in 1967, Licca-chan has been loved not only by children but also by adults who played with the toy and can now relate to the grown-up life she represented.
The exhibition will center around the concept of “on and off,” and showing the different versions of ourselves through relatable situations. This is exemplified through Licca-chan in “On” mode when working stylishly at the office, and in “Off” mode when fully relaxed in a sweatshirt at home.
The gallery will have intricate dioramas depicting everyday situations. Through the displays, the exhibition will highlight the chaos and charm of normal life, such as in work, love and other adult responsibilities.
This is a touring exhibition and will first stop in Osaka’s Lucua Osaka department store (February 3 to February 23) before coming to Lumine NEWoMan Shinjuku (March 4 to March 31).
Tickets will be ¥2200 for adults, and ¥1700 for junior high and elementary school students (¥2000 for adults, ¥1500 for junior high and elementary school students for weekdays). Tickets will not be sold at the venue, so please purchase online in advance.

To complement the exhibition, Lumine Shinjuku will also host a special campaign. From February 20 to March 31, Licca-chan will be sporting miniature versions of outfits from 12 popular shops inside Lumine department stores. These exclusive dolls can be seen at Shinjuku Lumine 2’s Sarabeth’s side window, and the Fleurage Un side staircase window. Various shops will have special new items inspired by Licca-chan. Customers who spend ¥15,000 or more at participating shops will receive a free original Licca-chan collaboration sticker wearing the correlating outfit of that shop.
