Celebrate Cherry Blossom Season in Asakusa
Engawa Asakusa will welcome in the spring season with a limited-time hanami (flower viewing) fair in one of Tokyo’s most popular sightseeing neighborhoods.
Running from April 16 to May 12, the “Spring Hanami Fair” will invite visitors to enjoy a curated selection of treats and drinks that perfectly complement the season. Featured items and vendors include nostalgic sweets from Utsuboya, such as botchan dango and mikan juice, along with refreshing kuzubar (arrowroot starch confections) from Sanshudo.
Utsuboya, founded in 1965 in Ehime, is a traditional confectionery that focuses on quality ingredients and time-honored techniques. Sanshudo’s kuzumochi-based kazubar blends tradition with innovation, offering a both crisp and chewy texture and a fresh take on wagashi to audiences in Japan and abroad.
Visitors can also browse offerings from Link Spirits, including alcoholic beverages and elegant Satsuma Kiriko glassware, making it a great stop for both seasonal snacks and gift-worthy finds. Link Spirits is a Kagoshima-based startup centered on shochu and sweet potatoes. By connecting producers and consumers, it promotes the appeal of Japan’s shochu culture both domestically and internationally.
