A Look Back at the Osaka World Expo
The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, also known as Miraikan, will be hosting a special exhibition looking back at the Osaka-Kansai Expo and its technological achievements in “Connecting with Myaku-Myaku Exhibition: The Expo Opens Up the Future.”
The exhibit will look over cutting-edge science and technology that was first introduced at the Expo, including some actual exhibits that will be shown in Tokyo for the first time. The exhibit will also display the architectural design process of the expo’s iconic venue and the challenges that came with it.
The Osaka Expo was held as a “testing ground” for the future, and featured new ideas and innovations for various areas including the food and healthcare industries. Some of the technologies that will be included in the Miraikan exhibit include 3D bioprinted wagyu, myocardial sheet transplants, ultrasonic baths (also known as “human washing machines”) robot suitcases and more.
The Expo’s venue, known as the Grand Ring, was designed by renowned architect Sou Fujimoto. It was designed to embody the concept of “Diverse, Yet One.” The exhibit will display Fujimoto’s design plans along with other experimental initiatives that examines architecture cost-effectiveness and environmentalism.
