Reggae Legend Macka Ruffin Brings “Rhythms from Jamaica”

Raggae singer Macka Ruffin will come to Blue Note Place for a vibrant one-night performance with the spirit of spring.

Ruffin was born in Manchester Parish in Jamaica, where he began his career in the 1970s as the drummer for the Black Kush Band. In 1986, he moved to Japan and has been growing his roots as a reggae singer connecting Jamaica and Japan for 20 years now. Ruffin continues to act as a pillar for cultural exchange, performing in community events such as the One Love Jamaica Festival held in Yoyogi Park, and creating the “Raggae Bon Odori,” a fusion of Japanese and Jamaican dance music.

This performance will feature Macka Ruffin on vocals, David Joseph on guitar, Mayumi Ishioka on keyboards, Tomoyuki Hieda on drums, Ken Kotani on bass and MikiBaby on backing vocals.

Ruffin’s performance will also feature a special Jamaican-inspired menu. A jerk chicken plate will be served (¥2600).
