The Dynamic Duo Returns with a New Album
Duo Akemi Ogaeri and May Inoue will return to Cotton Club after approximately three and a half years, for a powerful performance in support of their second album.
Pianist Ogaeri and guitarist Inoue are leading figures of the new generation jazz scene. The duo are commemorating the release of their new album, Ami Ogaeri & May Inoue II, their first album in about four years. With a base in jazz, their music features themes reminiscent of film music, with melodies that evoke documentaries. Their grand yet delicate improvisations create dramatic and serene ensembles.
Ogaeri released his first leader album, Steep Slope, in 2015 while still a student in the composition department of the Tokyo University of the Arts. In addition to being active in numerous groups, he has also demonstrated her talent in film music. Inoue started his professional career in high school and made his major debut in 2011 with First Train.
