Leading Jazz Harp into a New Era
Celebrated harpist Brandee Younger will make her return to Japan to present her third album, Gadabout Season.
Younger was nominated for Best Instrumental Composition at the 64th Grammy Awards. Her work blends jazz, R&B and hip-hop into a soulful, spiritual sound.
Since emerging in the 2000s, Younger has performed both as a bandleader and alongside icons such as Pharoah Sanders and Lauryn Hill. She is also dedicated to mentoring the next generation through her work in academia.
Her latest album was recorded using Alice Coltrane’s harp and created in collaboration with longtime bandmates Rashaan Carter and Allan Mednard, deepening the music’s spiritual and narrative scope. This performance will feature Younger on harp, Carter on bass and Mednard on drums. For both performance days, the first show will open at 15:30 and start at 16:30, while the second show will open at 18:30 and start at 19:30.
