The Long-Awaited Japan Debut from a Key Indie Band

The Mountain Goats, the indie folk-rock band led by acclaimed singer-songwriter John Darnielle, will be making their long-awaited debut in Japan at Blue Note Tokyo.

The band has been praised by Rolling Stone magazine as “one of the finest lyricists of the 2000s America has produced.” Formed in 1991, the band released their first studio album Zopilote Machine in 1994. Their latest album, Through This Fire Across From Peter Balkan, incorporates elements of musical theater and has been hailed as a career highlight. Through over three decades, the band has earned a devoted following for their narrative-driven lyrics.

This performance will include John Darnielle on vocals, guitar and keyboard; Jon Wurster on drums; and Matt Douglas on bass, keyboard and saxophone. On April 5, the first show will open at 15:30 and start at 16:30. The second show will open at 18:30 and start at 19:30. On April 6, the first show will open at 17:00 and start at 18:00. The second show will open at 19:45 and start at 20:30.
