Revisit Memories of the Past
Photographer Ben Beech will host a limited-time exhibition in Koenji’s Jiyucho Gallery from March 25 to March 29.
The exhibition, titled “Places That Remember,” centers around a theme of nostalgia and liminality. Locations house memories of the past even after they are left behind, it’s as if the lively atmosphere from its prior inhabitants can still be heard.
“These places have lives of their own. They have an agenda. Like a daruma with one eye filled. Plans to be made, projects to pursue, enlightenment to attain,” says Beech about the exhibition’s concept.
Beech is a Tokyo-based freelance photographer and drone operator specializing in travel, documentary and portrait photography. Originally from the UK, he started his photography career through London’s music industry in the mid-2000s before moving to Japan in 2008. Beech is now based in Tokyo, and runs a print studio where he prints and frames his works by hand.
