A Visionary Drummer
Kassa Overall will be returning to Blue Note Tokyo following the release of his long-awaited new album, “Cream.”
The performance will feature Kassa Overall on vocals, drums and electronics. Accompanying him will be Bendji Allonce on conga and electronics, Emilio Modeste on saxophone, Matt Wong on keyboard and Jeremiah Kal’ab Edwards on bass.
Overall is a visionary drummer and producer who seamlessly fuses jazz with hip-hop. Renowned for his avant-garde spirit and boundary-pushing sound, Overall has collaborated with cutting-edge artists such as Arto Lindsay, Vijay Iyer and Geri Allen. His 2019 album, “Go Get Ice Cream and Listen to Jazz,” received widespread acclaim and his subsequent tour brought him to Blue Note Tokyo for the first time, where he made his Japan debut. In 2021, he earned a Grammy nomination for Best Jazz Instrumental Album, further solidifying his place in contemporary jazz.
