In celebration of Gujo’s iconic summer dance festival, guests staying at Fairfield by Marriott Gifu Gujo are invited to a special hands-on experience: customizing their own odori geta (traditional dancing sandals). The event is held in collaboration with Gujo Mokuri, a local brand known for its high-quality, “Made in Gujo” footwear.
Gujo City is home to Gujo Odori, Japan’s longest-running bon odori dance, registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2022. At this event, participants will decorate their own pair of Gujo Mokuri geta using a woodburning pen and by selecting their preferred nose strap design — perfect for dancing in local summer festivals.
Each session includes a complimentary Gujo Odori hand towel, one of the three essential items worn by festival participants.
