Salin Makes Her Japan Debut

Thai-born drummer Salin Cheewapansri, known simply as Salin, will be making her Japan debut at Cotton Club. The popular percussionist and composer blends the distinct sounds of Thailand and West Africa for a unique and inescapable beat.

Salin was born and raised in Bangkok and began her career as a session drummer and side musician in her mid-teens. After moving to the US, Salin studied under Jojo Mayer, Dave Weckl and Peter Erskine. She is now based in Canada, and has garnered wide acclaim at the Montreal International Jazz Festival. Swing to the groove of Afrobeat and Thai tradition at Salin’s 3-day-only performance.

The performance will feature Salin Cheewapansri on drums; Alexandre Dion on saxophone; Josiane Rouette on trumpet; Khontan Pitukpon on khene, pin and puja; Lucas Zafiris on keyboard and guitar and March Titiwat Tripob on bass.

On January 11 and 12, the first show will open at 15:30 and start at 16:30, and the second show will open at 18:30 and start at 19:30. On January 13, the first show will open at 17:00 and start at 18:00, and the second show will open at 19:45 and start at 20:30.

All seats are reserved, starting at ¥7700.
