A Celebration of Independent Film
On June 9, 2025, the Kaminari Japan Film Festival returns to Theatre Guild Daikanyama in Tokyo, celebrating outstanding independent films from around the world. Starting at 3:30 PM, the festival will screen a diverse selection of films across multiple categories, including Music Video, Horror, Documentary, and Narrative.
This year’s program features 252 submissions from 35 countries, with highlights such as Josefine (Denmark), Water Brings Hope (USA), Sharing Aloha (Hawaii), Oxplant (Japan), and MADO / 窓 (Japan).
The event concludes with an Awards Ceremony at 8:30 PM, honoring exceptional talent and featuring messages from festival founder Mike Rogers and Raindance Film Festival founder Elliot Grove.
Founded to spotlight indie filmmakers worldwide, the Kaminari Japan Film Festival nurtures fresh cinematic voices by showcasing diverse storytelling and innovative filmmaking. It continues to grow as a vibrant platform for creative exchange and celebration in Tokyo.
