Treat Yourself with Hanamaruobake

A limited-time Hanamaruobake cafe will open in Tokyo and Osaka, inspiring fans to reward themselves after working hard during the summer season.

Hanamaruobake is one of Sanrio’s latest cute characters, a ghost that praises people who try their best. The character is inspired by the hanamaru flower mark that signifies a perfect score. Hanamaruobake debuted in 2023 and has become a popular addition to Sanrio’s lineup.

The pop-up cafe will open at Box Cafe & Space in Harajuku, Tokyo until August 30 and in Umeda, Osaka until September 6.

The cafe’s menu features a variety of cute dishes, photogenic desserts and refreshing drinks. Items include Hanamaruobake’s rice bowl, Marun’s cream pasta, Kokomaru’s chilled salt ramen, fluffy shaved ice, a Hanamaru pancake plate and a berry cream soda. Fans can also order the special course menu, with your choice of a main dish, a drink and shaved ice. The course menu also comes with an exclusive holographic button badge.

Reservations can be booked through the cafe’s official website on a first-come, first-served basis for up to four seats. A reservation fee of ¥660 will be applied, but customers with an advance booking will receive a special fan as a gift.

The cafe will also offer original merchandise, including straw charms, mini acrylic stands, compact mirrors and mugs. The full lineup can be seen on the cafe website, and select items will also be available online.
