The lover of the late property tycoon Nina Wang has been called to court, after the bartender-turned-Feng Shui master allegedly forged her will.
Tony Chan, 52, was accused of forging the will between October 2006 and April 2007, before presenting it as authentic in 2010. Chan lost a claim on Wang’s estimated $13 billion estate before the will was proven to be a fake.
His defense team said that the forensic team compromised the testing. The date of the start of the trial has not been fixed, but a “preliminary inquiry” will be held on Thursday. Wang was once Asia’s richest woman and died of cancer in 2007 at the age of 69. She was Chan’s client, advising her with ancient Chinese belief based on harnessing natural and spiritual energies.
The court ruled that the billion dollar estate belongs to Wang’s charity which is run by her siblings. Wang’s husband founded the family’s Chinachem Group property empire. He was abducted in 1990 and his body was never found.
