Tanabata with the Stars

Tokyo City View, located on the 52nd floor of the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, presents a magical look at Tokyo’s cityscape through its indoor observation deck 250 meters above sea level.

Now for a limited time, the observation deck is transforming into a seasonal star festival. This magical summer event invites guests to come stargazing above the Tokyo metropolis. Inspired by tanabata, the annual star festival that celebrates the celestial meeting of deities Orihime and Hikoboshi, visitors can enjoy the venue’s immersive experiences including a Milky Way photo spot and bamboo centerpieces filled with wishes. Enjoy the twinkles of the night sky with panoramic views from the deck.

The Milky Way area was created with technology from Megastar, one of the world’s most advanced planetarium projectors. Developed by engineer Takayuki Ohira from Kawasaki, Megastar was recorded in the 2004 Guinness World Records as the projector that can display the most stars in the world. The display features a million stars that create an impressive background for photos.

The Star Festival in the Sky will also feature music selected by Vegetable Record, a cutting-edge music unit, who will use ambient sounds and the atmosphere of the observation deck to create an immersive audio experience.

Admission to the observation deck is also included with The Galaxy Express 999 50th Anniversary Project Leiji Matsumoto exhibition tickets.
