Halloween in Japan’s First Theme Park

Asakusa Hanayashiki is hosting its seasonal Halloween event from September 30 through November 3. Built around the concept of a “Halloween party where you don’t have to bring anything,” the event features on-site costume rentals, participatory parades, special stage performances and family-friendly activities across the park.

At the pirate sky ship, guests can transform into a pirate with complimentary hat rentals on a flying pirate ship. Search for hidden treasure chests high above the park, and report your findings to the Halloween booth (next to the Carnival Game Corner) to earn candy. Guests who say the magic words, “trick or treat!” to park staff wearing Panda Car masks at the entrance and throughout the park will receive even more candy.

The Halloween Kiddy Taxi invites young visitors to wear witch hats or jack-o’-lanterns, drive around the course and hunt for hidden keywords. Report the keyword back to the Halloween booth to receive a body paint sticker.

A daily participatory parade will be held around the park. Children, elementary-school age and younger, who join the parade will receive a special Halloween-themed panda mask. Guests who want to participate should meet at the Flower Stage; at 2:00 p.m. during weekdays and at 3:00 p.m. during weekends and holidays.

The Hanayashiki Troupe will put on a limited-time Halloween show featuring cute, slightly spooky monsters performing dance and juggling routines.
