A Lighthouse called Kanata is celebrating the first anniversary of its relocation from Nishi-Azabu to Omotesando this autumn. Founded with the mission to advocate the universality of beauty and revalue Japanese art on a global scale, the gallery marks this milestone with a special anniversary exhibition.

The exhibition title “Ars Longa, Vita Brevis” originates from the Latin phrase meaning “Art is long, life is short”. It highlights the contrast between the limited lifetime of artists and the enduring nature of the works they create. The exhibition features approximately 50 works, including new and representative pieces by acclaimed artists such as Nobuyuki Tanaka and Satoru Ozaki, alongside a diverse group of creators across different generations, genres, materials, and techniques. In addition to the main 1st-floor gallery, the 2nd-floor gallery — typically reserved as a private space — will be specially opened to the public for the duration of the event.
