Looking for a something a little different this Sunday night?
Head to ERA live house, Shimokitazawa for some live electro/rock action courtesy of Not Squares and Miaou.
After playing Nagoya and Osaka last week, the U.K./Japan bands arrive in Tokyo for one final gig. If their YouTube videos are anything to go by the trendy kids who occupy Shimokitazawa are in for a memorable night.
Miaou were formed in 1999 by Tatsuki Hamasaki and sisters Mayumi and Hiromi Hasegawa and throughout the years the band have blurred the line between pop and experimental, adopting ambient synth swells, drones and IDM glitch to craft a dreamy vision of instrumental rock.
Three piece band Not Squares, made up of drummer Keith, bassist Riki and keyboard player Michael, formed in Belfast and have played at Glastonbury and on BBC Radio 1 and in 2010 toured with Two Door Cinema club.
“Not Squares are effortlessly the best dance band to come out of Ireland.” Said Kev Baird (Two Door Cinema Club). “Although to call them a dance band would be lazy. Their debut album ‘Yeah OK’ is a knockout of bass driven techno dance…A 46 minute long scissor-kick to the face which showcases originality and real talent.”
