For the Mayo Connoisseurs

Kewpie Mayo Festival will make a return at Shibuya Sakura Stage in celebration of Mayonnaise Day, with food, photo spots, workshops and more.

March 1 was designated as Mayonnaise Day to commemorate when Kewpie was first released in 1925. The Kewpie Mayo Festival invites guests to come learn more about the science behind mayonnaise production and sample various ways to enjoy Kewpie mayonnaise. The event will offer a free menu including a mayo dip flight, egg and potato salad, onigiri and roll sandwiches. Guests can collect digital stamps at each food location and receive prizes, like a bottle of Kewpie, to take home.

There will be several photo spots throughout the venue. The “Mayo Face Challenge” will analyze guests’ facial expressions while eating Kewpie mayo. Participants will receive a free sticker. The trick art photo booth invites guests to take a fun illusion photo. The Kewpie mascot will also be available for greetings.

The festival will also host various workshops and activities, such as the “Shaka Shaka Mayo Keychain” workshop where participants can create their own original Kewpie-shaped acrylic keychains. A total of 16 participants will be allowed per session and numbered tickets will be distributed at the workshop reception area from 10:00 each day. The “Richness and Umami Experience Lab” goes through the science of umami. A total of 19 participants will be allowed per session. Pre-registration is required for each of these activities.
