Looking at Light and Nature in a New Way
UltraSuperNew Kura art gallery will host a special exhibition with pattern artist Nodoka Yamaura titled, “Glad We Came.”

The exhibition will be rooted in the sensations Yamaura experienced during observations in a garden — with shifting sunlight, singing birds and the “small cosmos” that nature creates. Yamaura uses specialty techniques that blend washi paper and indigo dye for an intricate effect that traces the fleeting patterns of light.
The displayed art pieces are available for purchase, and range from ¥50,000 to ¥180,000.
An opening reception will be hosted on June 26 at 6:30 p.m.

Born in Tokyo in 1990, Yamaura graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 2015 after studying graphic design. She moved to Tokushima in 2020 where she has been engaged in the production of handmade washi paper at Awagami Factory. Inspired by her nature-rich environment, Yamaura creates artwork with a visual language that focuses on the theme of “light” and “presence.”
Yamaura has exhibited her work throughout Japan, and also internationally in New York, San Francisco, Houston and Finland.
