To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original 1994 PlayStation, Hong Kong-based creative studio and watchmaker Anicorn has teamed up with Sony on a limited-edition mechanical timepiece that leans fully into nostalgia. The Anicorn x PlayStation 30th-Anniversary Mechanical Watch, with a run of just 300 pieces, will be the first officially licensed PlayStation mechanical watch.
Priced at around 780 USD, the watch, available for preorder on December 19, 2025, will be sold directly through Anicorn. (Shipping is scheduled for June 2026.) Alongside the collaboration’s flagship watch, Anicorn is also releasing Play Symbol, a more affordable quartz model, in two editions — Dark Mode and Light Mode. The watches, available for approximately 250 USD each, feature PlayStation’s iconic geometric symbols, which playfully slide across the watch face when shaken.
A Closer Look
Housed in an angular 316L stainless steel case, measuring around 43 millimeters by 48 millimeters and just shy of 12 millimeters thick, the mechanical watch is finished in the same soft gray as the original PS1 console. On the wrist, it has a solid, chunky look that makes it resemble a piece of gaming hardware more than a traditional dress watch.
The nostalgia really shows on the dial. A raised PlayStation logo sits at the center, while the geometric symbols appear as three-dimensional hour markers at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. The hour and minute hands are tipped with references to the “start” and “select” buttons from the original controller. Powering the watch is a Miyota 9039 automatic mechanical movement with a 42-hour power reserve, visible through a sapphire caseback engraved with each watch’s individual edition number.
It also comes with practical modern specs, including sapphire crystal, water resistance to 50 meters (5ATM) and a gray FKM rubber strap printed with PlayStation symbols. Each watch is packaged with a Memory Capsule, styled after a classic PS1 memory card, containing an NFC chip that links to a digital space for saving personal notes or memories. The watch and capsule come nested in a metal case inspired by vintage PlayStation hardware.

The Enduring Charm of PlayStation
When Sony released the PlayStation in 1994, it changed the direction of gaming by embracing CD-ROM-based games instead of cartridges and prioritizing third-party developers like Namco to build a large software library. It also presented gaming as something sleek and grown-up; branding leaned toward the edgy 1990s club and rave culture, with taglines like “Live in Your World. Play in Ours.” Its gray console, controller and iconic triangle, circle, cross and square symbols have become cultural shorthand for an entire generation.
Preorders start on December 18, 2025, at 10 p.m. EST, exclusively on Anicorn’s official website.
