The Evolution of TW Across 55 Years
Proudly celebrating 55 Years of Tokyo Weekender, Japan’s longest-running English lifestyle publication and digital platform, the TW team will be hosting a special photo exhibition in collaboration with internationally acclaimed photographer Leslie Kee.
Kee is renown for his documentation of various artists and celebrities including Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Pharrell Williams and Madonna — and he was also the cover star of Tokyo Weekender’s Volume 3 Icons Issue.
The exhibition, titled “Life, Culture, and Creativity in Tokyo 1970-2025,” will feature a mix of archival works along with new creations that encapsulate the Tokyo metropolis’ beautiful diversity and boundless energy through the lens of Tokyo Weekender. Spanning across both floors of Creative Space Akademeia 21, the exhibit will provide a cohesive look through TW’s evolution and legacy over the decades going all the way back to the first issue.
The venue’s second floor will focus on Leslie Kee’s portraits for the Icons Issue, featuring icons like Naomi Kawase, Kunihiko Morinaga, Takumi Saitoh and Atsuko Okatsuka. Step inside the magazine pages and get an up-close look at the gorgeous editorial photography.
The exhibition will run for a limited time from October 16 to October 20.
