Originally created in Finland, Augmented Reality (AR) Bouldering is now one of the hottest trends in the world. Combining AR with bouldering to create a new interactive form of gaming, it’s now catching on here in Japan.

Now, at Villars Climbing Ariake in Odaiba, you can give it a try.

Here’s how it works: a computer system continually analyzes the wall and climbers’ movements, and projected graphics on the wall show various activities to enhance the climbing experience. Six game variations are currently available, making it great exercise for all, regardless of age or skill level. AR bouldering provides an opportunity to experience a new sport using the latest technology for people visiting Ariake, which is expanding its sport-related activities in the lead-up to 2020.
