A Malaysian court has ordered the extradition of the Iranian suspect involved in the Bangkok bomb blasts last February.
Thirty-one year old Masoud Sedaghat Zadeh was arrested while attempting to escape to Iran by air. He pleaded innocent, denying knowledge of the attacks, reports the Financial Times. Masoud is accused of being involved with three bomb blasts that happened on the same day in Bangkok.
Separate bombings in New Delhi and Georgia were believed to be linked with the Bangkok bombings. An Israeli diplomat’s wife was wounded in the Indian capital after a bomber attached an explosive to her car. Another Israeli embassy car was targeted in Tbilisi, Georgia. Israel claimed the incidents were perpetuated by Iran and the Hezbollah, a statement Iran denied.
Masoud is ordered back in Thailand unless an appeal is made within 15 days. Masoud’s defence lawyer, Mohamad Nashir Hussin told Reuters, “He said he wasn’t involved. He doesn’t know about the bomb and all that”. Masoud, pleading innocent in a Malaysian court, has also denied that he was involved in the other incidents.
