After super group Atoms for Peace headlining performance in 2010, Thom Yorke returns to Japan’s biggest music festival on July 29 with recently reformed Radiohead.

Smash Corporation, organizers of Fuji Rock made the announcement today and already the Twitter-sphere is buzzing with gossip.

The company teased Twitter followers with a not-so cryptic tweet: “Nice to know Radiohead is playing in Taipei on the 25th of July which does suggests they might appear @ Fuji Rock.”

Followed by the band themselves with: “We will be playing in Japan on 29th July.”

Twitter user Weswally summed up the feelings of many Fuji fans saying: “Radiohead AND Stone Roses confirmed for Fuji Rock… Too good to refuse??”

Though the British band have a huge following here in Japan, unbelievably Radiohead have never played Fuji Rock, with the previous announcement of the Stone Roses as headliners in November last year, Fuji Rock 2012 will no doubt sell out in record time.
