Combining Tradition and Innovation Into the World of Yokai

Warehouse Terrada will host an immersive digital art exhibit inspired by the monsters and spirits of Japanese folklore. The Yokai Immersive Experience Exhibition is the world’s first immersive digital art museum dedicated to Japan’s historical yokai art.

The exhibition showcases art of creatures including Oni, Tengu, Kappa and Tsukumogami, painted by artists from the Edo and Meiji periods. The gallery combines cutting-edge video technology and three-dimensional sculptures for an impressive effect that brings the world of yokai to life. Guests can navigate detailed explanations of yokai folklore, and interact with various immersive installations.

The Yokai Immersive Experience Exhibition will run in cooperation of Nishio City Iwase Bunko, Japan’s first antiquarian book museum, and the Shodoshima Yokai Art Museum. The exhibition will mix traditional art with CGI, projection mapping and other special effects for an interesting blend of the past and present.
