Anko and Kotatsu
The highly anticipated 3rd installment of the “Japanese Afternoon Tea,” supervised by the Japan Anko Association, has returned to the Shinagawa Prince Hotel’s restaurant Ajikaido Gojusanji.
This season’s theme is “A Warm and Cozy Bean Paste Tour by the Kotatsu Table.” Guests can enjoy seven exquisite types of anko sweet bean paste — representing the seven post towns along the historic Tokaido road — served alongside beautiful Japanese dishes that celebrate the four seasons. To make it even cozier, you can enjoy your tea course from a special heated kotatsu seat.
The culture of anko has developed in Japan through tea ceremony history and refined alongside the development of Japanese confectionery culture. This anko journey is sure to be an opportunity for guests to rediscover the charm and potential of anko. For a full list of items that will be served at the afternoon tea, please visit the event website.
After enjoying a relaxing afternoon tea, guests can take the “QankoA” quiz. If you correctly answer the 10 questions about anko and Shinagawa, you’ll be officially certified as a “Shinagawa Prince Hotel Anko Ambassador.”

This limited offering will run from November 1 to January 10, 2027. Kotatsu seating is an additional ¥500/person. Seibu Prince Global Rewards (Seibu Prince Club) members can get a special discount on their booking.
