Fireflies and Illuminations
Gotemba Kogen Tokinosumika park, a large multi-purpose leisure facility located in Shizuoka Prefecture, will host the “Summer Galaxy” and “Firefly’s Den” events with fantastically illuminated summer nights. Located at the foot of Mt. Fuji in the Gotemba Highlands, the park spreads across a vast 98,000 square meters and offers a variety of accommodations, natural hot springs, a craft beer brewery, various restaurants, shops and more.
At the “Tunnel of Light,” guests can walk under approximately 50,000 blue and white LEDs that will make you feel like you’re walking through the Milky Way. A 200-meter-long avenue of light will illuminate the hot summer nights of Gotemba Plateau with a refreshing glow. The Summer Galaxy event will run until August 23 from 6 to 10 p.m.
The firefly festival will feature Genji and Heike fireflies dancing around the park. Guests can enjoy the park’s natural environment accompanied by the gentle glow of fireflies. The firefly festival will run until June 21 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. (last entry 8:30 p.m.). To enter the viewing area, guests will need to spend ¥1,000 or more in a single transaction at facilities within the park and present their receipt.
