A Space For Introspection, Play And Wonder

The Mori Art Museum will host “Mariko Mori: All That Shines,” Japan’s first major retrospective exhibition since “Mariko Mori: Pure Land” at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo. For the first time in Japan since 2002, guests can explore over 40 mind-bending works spanning three decades of Mori’s incredible career.

From her iconic 1990s pop-futurist “Cyborg” series to Wave UFO — an immersive installation utilizing real-time brainwave bio-feedback — this exhibition is a breathtaking journey through technological futurism, Buddhist philosophy, and astrophysics.

All That Shines offers new frameworks for Mori’s practice, positioning it within the fields of technological futurism, popular visual culture, and philosophies of consciousness. At a moment when the global contemporary art world is turning with renewed attention to the diversity of cultures and civilizations, artistic practices deeply intertwined with indigenous traditions and ceremonial life are once again coming to the fore.
