Enter the Firefly Village
Yuyake Koyake Fureai no Sato is a village-like recreation facility that offers hands-on nature experiences amid the vast greenery of the surrounding mountains of Hachioji. In June, the venue holds its “Hotaru no Yube” (Firefly Nights) event, with Heike and Genji fireflies glowing near the waterways flowing through the facility.
These fireflies rest deep in the greenery by day, but on warm nights they take to the air to offer a romantic spectacle that marks the onset of the Japanese summer. Along with fireflies, guests can also enjoy a variety of flora such as blooming hydrangeas, horseback riding and other summer activities.
