Adorable themed cafés are a staple across Tokyo, but the Pokémon Cafe may have outdone itself. From curry with pikachu-shaped rice to exclusive plates and plushies, guests are flocking to the Nihonbashi location. The catch? It’s currently the most difficult place in Japan to get a reservation. Here’s everything you need to know about the Pokémon Cafe and its reservation system to set you up for success in the competitive reservation war.

What’s New: The 2026 Renovation Reopening
Located on the fifth floor of Nihonbashi’s posh department store Takashimaya, the Pokémon Cafe is connected to the Pokémon Center Tokyo DX, so you can browse through all the goodies before or after getting nourished.
Pokémon Cafe Tokyo’s New Menu
Pokémon Cafe Tokyo’s menu changes regularly. The cafe recently went through some renovations, and it has re-opened with new menu items, decor and participation rules.
As always, Pokémon Cafe Tokyo has adorable food and drink offerings inspired by a variety of popular characters. The presentation of each one is impeccable, and is truly one of the biggest highlights of a cafe visit. New food items include the “Best Buddies Pikachu & Pichu’s Curry Rice Plate” (¥2,530) with electrifying Pikachu and Pichu rice, a Cheri Berry-inspired meatball and a Pokéball-shaped tofu hamburger steak — it’s Pokémon Cafe Tokyo signature dish and a recommended order for first-timers.
Other dishes include Snorlax’s naptime teriyaki burger (¥2,530) and Mimikyu’s disguise omelet and corn stew (¥2,530). The Pikachu Hamburger kid’s plate (¥1,540) will also be available for children under 12 years old.
The cafe has all-new drinks and sweets as well. Greninja’s white peach drink (¥1,375) is a refreshing fruity drink inspired by the ninja Pokémon and contains a shuriken-shaped jelly to match. If you’re a coffee fan, try the “Choose your Pokémon lattes,” which come with a unique Pokémon design on the coffee. Eevee’s pancake plate (¥2,090) is served with fluffy mascarpone cream and colorful fruits to cleverly match the palette of the Eeveelutions.
The Pika Pika Parfait (¥2,090) one of the main headliners from the renovation. The parfait is a chocolate and berry dessert topped with Chef Pikachu’s specialty mousse. The cafe’s new “Let’s Make a Pika Pika Parfait” show is a performance dedicated to the dessert. Guests can see Chef Pikachu, Waitress Pikachu or Patissier Pikachu as they prepare everyone’s orders with a fun dance.

Exclusive Pokémon Cafe Goods
The Pokémon Cafe is full of detail at every corner. The interior has wooden furnishings with an embedded Pikachu tail. Eevee, Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander adorn the main table, and adorable plushies are found all over the café.
Fans an check out the long list of Pokémon goods. Some are café-exclusive and others are online-exclusive. Merchandise includes plush toys of the Pikachu cafe staff and rubber coasters with various characters. You can even purchase the unique tableware and utensils that the cafe serves its menu on, such as the Snorlax plate, the Pokeball bowl and the Gengar fork. The Dragonair plate and Poltchageist seasoning container are other creatively-designed pieces that will add touches of whimsy to any meal.

How To Make a Reservation
Now onto the main topic: how do you make a reservation at the popular Pokémon Cafe? It is completely reservation-based, and you can only make bookings from the official website. Reservations cannot be made via phone or email. For the 2026 re-opening of the cafe, reservations are currently open for visits between July 8 and July 31. For visits between August 1 and August 31, reservations will open on July 1 at 6:00 p.m. Once you’re able to choose your date and time, make sure to click “reload” instead of “return to home,” which will boot you back to the home screen.
Getting a reservation is not easy — tickets tend to go in the first 1-2 minutes. Cancellations on weekdays, especially the day before a reservation, tend to pop up, so keep an eye out for those. If you find yourself in Osaka, try making a reservation for the Shinsaibashi branch as well. It’s slightly easier to find an opening there.
September reservations and beyond will be announced at a later date, so be sure to keep checking the official website for further updates. Merchandise is available for purchase without reservation.
