Kikuya Tokyo, the restaurant that combines tempura and tachinomi, has opened its fifth location in Tokyo Midtown Hibiya.

The bar’s concept is for guests to casually enjoy two Japanese traditional cultures, tempura and tachinomi, which is Japanese for standing bar. This is the fifth location for Kikuya, following the the opening of their first in Ebisu in 2015.

“Tempura fondue,” an original dish offered only at the Hibiya location, is a totally new way to eat tempura. Crispy tempura is dipped in homemade cheese fondue sauce in a delightful blend of Western and Japanese cuisine.

Kikuya recommends pairing the dish with Casal Garcia, a Portuguese sparkling wine, or many of its other white wines.
