British five-piece Foals continue to pack indie dance floors around the world with their hit “Cassius”, but the quietly moving “Spanish Sahara” and lively “Miami” prove they are more than one hit wonders. Akasaka Blitz, where they play with Holy F*ck on Tuesday Feb. 15th (¥6,000; smash-jpn.com) is sure to be mobbed by skinny jeans, thick glasses-wearing scenesters. North Carolina’s Superchunk are the 1990’s indie band that not only never sold out but neither imploded because of it. The band is just getting better with age and, having honed their act over the years, promises one mean live show at Shibuya’s O-West on Monday Feb. 21 (¥4,800 advance, ¥5,300 at the door; shibuya-o.com). After MGMT’s disappointing second album and a lackluster, rain-soaked performance at last years Fuji Rock, two gigs in Tokyo offer a chance for the Brooklyn duo to redeem themselves at Studio Coast on Feb. 24 and 25
