An Event Combining Theatrical Poetry, Slam Poetry and Butoh Dance
Set inside the cyberpunky music bar Hven, this night of Tokyo Poetry Week is a curated event combining theatrical poetry, slam poetry and Butoh dance. Performers include president of Japan’s National Poetry Slam, Miki Yuuri, Frank Spignese, Duncan Whom and Butoh duo Vena/Kava with the creative collective The Odds.
The event also features a calligraphy exhibition by artist Simon Kalajdjiev, who is known for his architectural illustration and experimental asemic writing projects.
Guests can also explore a curated visual poetry books showcase, offering a unique look at how text can be experienced as a tangible work of art. Authors include Zoria Petkoska K, Yukiko Oka, Takahiro Sawamura, Park Laffin and Mehdi Sicre.
Tokyo Poetry Week takes place between April 9 and 18.
