Music for Change

Global Citizen, the world’s largest initiative to eradicate extreme poverty, will host its first ever music event in Japan, Global Citizen Live: Tokyo, on June 18 at the Tokyo International Forum. headlining artists include Yuki Chiba, Ai, Yoshiki and boy group &Team. Chris Peppler will serve as the main MC.

The event will not just be concert, but a contribution to a global movement to support the education and health of children around the world, and secure a better future for them. All tickets sold for Global Citizen Live: Tokyo will contribute to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, a global initiative to raise ¥16 billion to provide at least 100,000 children with access to quality education in over 150 countries – including in Japan – by the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“Japan has been a leader in the field of global health, responding to the needs of people in need around the world…By working together, we can create a better future for children around the world,” said Simon Moss, the co-founder of Global Citizen.

The show will feature &Team, a nine-member global group consisting of EJ, Fuma, K, Nicholas, Yuma, Jo, Harua, Taki and Maki. “Music has the power to connect diverse worlds, and that is one of the important values ​​for &Team. We are very honored to be involved in such a meaningful initiative,” said the band.

Other featured artists include Ai, a Japanese-American singer-songwriter and rapper. Ai has collaborated with renowned artists such as Snoop Dogg and The Jacksons, and is also known as the first female artist to sign with the prestigious hip-hop and R&B label Def Jam Japan. She currently serves as a Global Citizen Cultural Champion. Yuki Chiba is a Japanese rapper, singer-songwriter, and producer. Chiba was the first Japanese artist to perform at the MTV VMAs and has collaborated with many international artists, including Megan Thee Stallion. 

Yoshiki is a lyricist, composer and leader of X Japan and The Last Rockstars. Yoshiki has been named “one of the most influential musicians and composers in Japanese history” by Consequence magazine and described as a “musical innovator” by Billboard magazine. He was also selected for TIME’s 2025 “TIME 100 (The 100 Most Influential People in the World),” a historic first for a Japanese musician.
